I had previously visited a different Costa Azul branch back in 2020 and unfortunately had a poor experience one that put me off the brand entirely for years. However, a friend recently recommended I try the Elephant and Castle branch, assuring me it was a completely different experience. I must admit, I was hesitant, but I’m genuinely glad I gave it another chance. This branch exceeded all expectations. It’s a cosy Ecuadorian restaurant, and although we visited on a busy Saturday without a reservation, we were seated immediately no waiting, which was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the Carne en Palito con Maduro Frito (grilled beef served with yellow fried plantain and salad). The portion size was just right for me as I have a small appetite. The beef was cooked to perfection, medium rare, just as I like it. The salad was fresh, and the fried plantain was golden and delicious exactly how it should be. My friend had the Arroz Chaufa Mixto, a special fried rice dish with soy sauce, mixed seafood, chunks of beef, red peppers and peas. He absolutely loved it. The flavours were fresh, vibrant, and the portion was generous enough to take half home! For drinks, my friend chose the Maracuyá (passion fruit) natural juice, which was refreshing and flavourful. I asked for a still lemonade, as I can’t have fizzy or carbonated drinks for health reasons, and the team kindly accommodated my request with no issue. It’s the kind of attention to detail that makes a real difference. This visit has genuinely changed my perception of Costa Azul as a brand. I’m proud to leave this review and highly recommend the Elephant & Castle branch. I sincerely hope the other locations follow the excellent standard set here.

It was my first time visiting this restaurant and I will certainly be back. The food is of a high quality, and the portion size is fantastic. If you have not tried Ecuadorian food before, I would highly recommend that you give it a try as they have options on the menu for everybody. Latin American food at its finest! I visited on a Saturday afternoon, and it was quite busy, which is always a good sign. I liked the atmosphere and service was great and we did not have to wait too long for our meals etc.

Great Ecuadorian restaurant that’s been in the area for at least a decade already that I remember. Food, service and atmosphere are all great! Portions are big so come with an empty stomach. Recommend!

Great Ecuadorian food experience. Buzzy busy family atmosphere and generous hearty food at a good price. I came here for my birthday and had a very good experience. Would recommend booking in advance, especially on weekends which are extra busy as they serve special dishes.

When I looked at the list menu, it seems like the foods are overprice, but actually it's worth the price! I ordered the seafood fried rice, it's tasty! I haven't found any other restaurant where I can have seafood fried rice with satisfying piece of prawn, squid, octopus, etc. The portion also big so I can take away some foods left. Staffs are helpful and friendly. No wonder I saw a lot of people come to the restaurant.

Great flavourful food in generous portions. They don't get shy and put a lot of seafood on your plate. If you are really hungry - the place is perfect for you.

A lovely little place tucked under one of the arches. Lots of customers inside speaking Spanish so that was a good sign already. The food was SO GOOD and generous sized portions, and the decor and music added a great vibe.

This place is delicious. The seafood and meat platters are great and so tasty. Highly recommend the prawns dish too. The flavours are so rich, and great value for money because the servings are generous and the ambience is great and homely. Definitely make a reservation, especially on Saturdays, and make sure you go early (5pm) as the Ceviche dishes sell out early.

Absolutely amazing experience, the food was incredible, the portions were jaw dropping, the staff were extremely friendly and I almost fell in love with the flavours and tastes of the dishes. Everything was throughly cooked and presented at a flawless level. I would without a doubt recommend anyone to visit and try out this superb cuisine, especially if you are interested in exploring Ecuadorian food.

Got the Ranchero for £13 in total. Decent sized portions and good flavour. Rice is well cooked and flavoured. Salad tastes fresh. Lots of meat. Lots of Latinos inside the venue. Slightly cheaper price than Nandos but you get a significantly larger portion size, hence 5 stars.

The food served here are delicious and quite affordable, especially if you're sharing! 😍🍛 It is usually busy here but the service is rather good. At least they have air conditioning on hot days! ☉😥🌬 I would definitely return with more friends/family to share and try various dishes! Kinda disappointed that i got king prawns substituted for tiger prawns...

This place is a vibe!!! Went on a Friday night, don't know if there's karaoke every Friday or not but there was when I went with a dedicated singer. However the mic did get passed around and there were English songs to select too. But I went there mainly as I heard great things about their seafood. And indeed it did not disappoint; I got the pescondo freitas??? May have butchered that but it was fried/grilled whole tilapia. So fresh, so yummy with generous helpings. My friends all went for the mixed seafood platter that had prawns, squid, mussels and king prawns, which i sampled too and that was gorgeous. They do do steak and chicken if you don't like seafood but honestly just went there for the seafood. I couldn't finish mine but they plated it up for me beautifully in a take away container (with a £1 charge for the container). Will definitely go again as i saw a crab dish i want to try.

Dietary restrictions
They do list everything that's in the dish as well as have a list of allergens in the menu too so if there is something you can't eat do let them know or chose something else
Wheelchair accessibility
This one is a tough one as technically yes it is wheelchair friendly as entrance is sloped, no steps. But the immediate entrance is a little tight, so if you have a compact wheelchair and can make tight turns easily with someone hold the door to allow this and you sit by the entrance then yes, totally do-able. But maybe scope it out before hand as you really can't travel too far in, again a bit tight but if you book before hand maybe they could shift things around for you. But please do not quote me on this.

The food is very nice and reasonably priced. The portions are huge. There is space for a bit of dancing, if the clients feel that way inclined.
